GWANGJANG MARKET : korean traditional market

Gwangjang Sijang or Gwangjang Market
korean traditional market

These days, this kind of traditional market is popular among Koreans. Even to young generation. Food is good and price is very affordable and people also can enjoy korea of old days. In seoul, Gwangjang market is one of the most popular ones. My cousin who just discharged the army contacted me and wanted to buy me and my sister dinner after he got paid from part time job. Its because we bought him delicious food every time we met him on his holiday. So we decided to go Gwangjang market and eat Korean style raw beef, 육회, Yukhoe.

You can take a subway and get off at Jongro 5 ga station and exit no. 9.

You can see the Gwangjang market entrance.

It was about 6:30pm and already a bit dark in winter. At first there were many cart closed but in the middle, you can see many lights and people and food!
Ahhh smell!

Jeon is Korean pancake.
We can cook any kind of Jeon with various ingredients. Its usually served at banquet. Or served for Korean alcohol drink Makgeolli 막걸리. It is Assorted pan fried delicacies. It is must served food at Korea national holiday, seolnal and chusuk. In my case i dont cook this unless its national holiday. So i really enjoyed the Jeon that i didnt cook!

Many people!
You can just pick wherever you want. The Jeon street has almost same menu and all are above the average taste.
We visited Bindaetteok place. Bindaettek is one type of Jeon made of mung bean.

I loved the crisp edge!!
With order, you have to pay first since so many people come and go, the workers cannot track down. But once you pay, you dont have to wait for long.

After appitizer, we went to Yukhoe street.
This Yuke Zamezip 육회자매집 is one of the most famous restaurants here. We waited for our turn and order two Yukhoe and one bibimbab.

Yukhoe is Korean style raw beef. It is like beef tartare. You should eat this menu at really nice place. I am very picky about raw food considering my health.

Mixed with egg and pear. Nice harmony!

Soup
Yukhoe bibimbab!
Mix mix mix and enjoy
We ate all
One the way out, we passed flour base food street. Ddoekbokki and sundae and so on. Traditional korean street food
If you like to try new things and want to try something new and different, this might be good choice!
But keep in mind that you should not expect fancy nice place.
