Very famous city, Jeonju

Well known for Korean traditional house, Hanok villiage and delicious food. 

Even the train station looks like Hanok. The interior is also well decorated. The crowded train station proved the popularity.

Very famous dumpling place 

At the counter, you pay and then the clerk will make it to go. 

Very thin dumpling skin almost shows stuffing inside. You can put whatever you like in the tray. 

 


The shrimp is very famous one and also shrimp is what i like. So my friend and i picked and put this and that.

It was delicious! Wished it was warmer. 

Even the public telephone booth has Hanok decoration. 

This is the guest house that i stayed with my bestie. We arrived here very late. 

The landlady gave us Sikhye, sweet rice drink even though we came very late. We were very grateful. 

All the decorations strengthen Korean traditional housing style.

The room we stayed. Most guest houses have bunk beds so price can go lower. But this Hanok style guest house cannot do that, so price cannot help being higher, much higher. So my friend and i googled a lot to find right place with right price. and we found this guesthouse, Manhyangjeong 만향정. It is located quite far from the center of Hanok village so price is lower than other places. To be honest, blog posting about this place's breakfast... made me decide to stay here. lol

We planned to go eat Korean table d'hote. but we canceled and changed our plan after this breakfast. The blogger didn't lie to us at all!

We ate almost all! Even the landlady was surprised to see how well we ate. haha she thought we were like 20 so she worried if the food might not be our appetite. So she made special salad with citron dressing. very thoughtful of her. All the dishes were very delicious! The good thing is this breakfast was included in room charge. We ate so well, so full, so didn't feel no need to go Korean table d'hote at all!

Another family came to stay at this place. little children seemed that they've never seen these kinds of stuff before. They found all interesting and the landlady explained how to use, what it is, and show them around.

Hanok village street 

This is "Hanok" building. I want to live Hanok style with modern technology in the future. would be great. 

 

Some workers were building the new Hanok style store. Interesting to observe. 

From there, food street of Jeonju Hanok village!

This place is called maternal grandmother's food skill. It is more like dessert place.  

They have menu outside of the building. Even has English, Chinese, Japanese translation. Bingsu, ice flake is one of the most famous menu. 

 

Interior is also korean traditional building style. i like this tradition thing!

This is Traditional Bingsu, ice flake with sweet red bean topping and rice cake topping. 

Too much red bean sauce made the bingsu to sweet for me. Don't mix it all, try little by little. 

This is also very famous restaurant, Sambaekjib. Their main menu is bean sprout rice soup. One of the most famous Korean cartoonists drew about this place, so it gains huge fame. but we were soooo full after the great breakfast and dessert. we couldn't try the menu. 

This kind of decoration increases Jeonju Hanok village identity and mood. 

 

 

In the street, there are many stands selling Korean traditional style cute accessories. 

I felt like Insa-dong.

This place is also very famous for Choco pie. It is more delicious and people buy it for gift. 

We didn't have enough time to go in in order to catch a train.

The first cathedral church in Korea, Jeondong cathedral. It is not that big and grand like the ones in Europe, but it has it's own beauty.   

 

 

The day we visited, they had a wedding. So the cathedral has wedding decoration. i wanted to feel the science and calm but not quite a time. but i could enjoy other things.

Had so good time in Jeonju. i think the guesthouse took great role in it. i truly enjoyed traveling with closest friend.
